Meet WIN/LOSE’s Founder: Carlos Turner
Carlos Turner is the founder of WIN/LOSE. The main purpose of his organization is to show youth that just because they live in poverty-stricken neighborhoods, they do not have to be defined by those environments and can overcome obstacles to achieve positive outcomes. He has been blessed with almost two decades of experience supporting urban, at-promise youth. He also has his own eye-opening experiences of living within many troubled, inner-city neighborhoods that most of the youth he works with have to mature in.
He supports youth through several avenues, one being mentorship. His mentorship has helped several students complete primary school (grades K-8) and high school while helping them learn essential social and life skills. This mentorship is extended through his ability to connect with youth through communication in alternative areas.
Mr. Turner is also able to develop relationships by offering grooming services (including haircuts) and integrating life skills as he offers these services. Mr. Turner is a trained and skilled barber and this experience has afforded him the opportunity to connect with youth on extraordinary levels.
In addition to his role in developing WIN/LOSE, he is a God-fearing family man. He applies the skills he believes in to develop inner-city youth and families as well. Mr. Turner prides himself on consistency and responsibility.
His vision is to educate our youth on how to produce and harness positive energy and flourish into model citizens. He believes that changing mindsets one by one changes neighborhoods.
